ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS Moanin' (Circa 1959 US issue of the 6-track deep groove mono LP, just titled 'Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers' on release but now more widely known as 'Moanin'. This is the second variant on the West 63rd - NYC address label with 'Inc' & 'R' lettering, raised edges & RVG stampers & 'ear' markings in the run-outs. Also stars Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Bobby Timmons & Jymie Merritt, in what must surely be one of the top ten albums to own on Blue Note, with heavy duty pasted laminate sleeve & period company inner. TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION

The pasted sleeve shows only light signs of its age but this is mostly at the edges, also showing a little laminate lift to top corner. The back cover with extensive sleevenotes by Leonard Feather shows minimal wear - still a lovely bright clear example - overall graded Excellent.
The colours of the labels are bright and vivid with no tears to the print. There is a 'deep groove' visible but only on side two. There are some spindle marks to indicate play but nothing too excessive. On closer inspection Side 2 label differs slightly with the 'New York USA' circumference text!
The vinyl has been professionally cleaned on a Matrix machine - there are obvious scuffs throughout, mainly to Side 2. Upon play testing both sides surface noise is evident, again mainly to Side 2 with some pops - overall conservatively graded Good.
