Cecil produced fascinating but puzzling freeform jazz in the avant-garde style and this session from October 12-13th, 1960 recorded in New York is no exception. The exciting pianist is joined by Buell Neidlinger on bass, drummer Dennis Charles and tenor saxophonist Archie Shepp, the latter playing on Air Lazy Afternoon only. A richly rewarding album!
