L'Homme à Tête de Chou now benefits from a deluxe reissue including a new mix and unreleased instrumental and alternative takes. Considered as "the other" masterpiece of Serge Gainsbourg's discography, alongside Histoire de Melody Nelson, L'Homme à Tête de Chou had not yet revealed all its secrets.
Almost 45 years after its release, the rediscovery of the multitrack tapes recorded in London in the summer of 1976 confirms that behind Gainsbourg's virtuoso talk-over was an extraordinary musical edifice. The new mix for this 2023 release rebalances the vocal and instrumental parts of L’Homme à Tête de Chou, while retaining its original intent.
This Deluxe Edition is completed by a bonus LP including the instrumental versions of L’Homme à Tête de Chou’s twelve tracks. Recorded on the multi-track tapes, the different vocal takes of Serge Gainsbourg also reserve some textual variants presented through the bonus tracks.
Available separately, the audio blu-ray of the 2CD/Blu-ray edition contains the HD stereo mix of the original album and the Dolby Digital 5.1. and Dolby Atmos mixes of the two discs of this reissue.
